The Reign of Kindo Concert

My brother and I had such a great time at this concert last week, at the Loading Dock in Salt Lake City with Stolas, The Reign of Kindo, and Jason Richardson/Luke Holland. I went to interview The Reign of Kindo – you can listen to that interview on the podcast here.

What is the thread that connects these three very different acts? Musicianship.

I’ve been a fan of all three for varying amounts of time, so it was incredible to see all three at once.

Stolas was up first, and they rocked it.

It’s a shame the stage was so small – I think they would have been able to really get moving if they had more space to operate.

Next up, The Reign of Kindo, the alt-jazz band I came to interview.

These were some of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met, and they put on a heck of a show.

These are extremely talented musicians who write incredible songs. Definitely check them out if you’re new to them.

Last (but certainly not least) Jason Richardson and Luke Holland headlined the show.

Jason Richardson is the former Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin guitarist who left to pursue a solo career in music. He is young, but he is a genuine virtuoso, and one of the most talented guitar players I’ve ever heard or seen.

Luke Holland is his counterpart on the drums. Luke played the drums on Jason’s album, but gained his own fame by releasing drum remix videos on youtube. He selects popular songs in pop, rap, hip-hop, etc. and plays along to them.

I’m doing Luke a disservice by only explaining these videos – they are incredible and highlight his talent – you just need to see them.

Luke was also in the band The Word Alive for a couple of years, and has tracked drums for other bands, such as I See Stars. He didn’t disappoint tonight.

These two play together like they have done so since being little kids, and it was a very entertaining night to be a part of. They rocked it, hard.

What a fun show! Thanks to The Reign of Kindo for letting us be their guest and to all the bands for putting on such a great concert. Best of luck to all of them as they continue their tour!
